On June 15, the founding meeting of the National Mirror Committee of ISO Technical Committee on Small Hydropower Plants (ISO/TC339) was held in Hangzhou. Ms. Zhu Chengqing, Vice Minister of Ministry of Water Resources delivered an address. Mr. Zhang Jianyun, Chairman of Small Hydropower Technical Committee of the International Organization for Standardization, Chairman of the National Mirror Committee and Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The Small Hydropower Technical Committee of International Organization for Standardization is the first technical committee of International Organization for Standardization in China's water conservancy industry, and the establishment of its National Mirror Committee will further accelerate the pace of internationalization of China's small hydropower standards, promote China's small hydropower technology to the forefront of the world, to better support the service of "One Belt and One Road" construction of water cooperation, to help the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

On behalf of the Ministry of Water Resources, Vice Minister Zhu Chengqing congratulated on the establishment of the Domestic Expert Committee of the ISO Technical Committee on Small Hydropower. She expressed her hope that the expert committee will give full play to its role as a think tank, gather the strengths and resources of all parties, actively participate in the development of small hydropower international standards, launch more high-quality small hydropower international standard results, make new and greater contributions to the new stage of high-quality development of water resources, and contribute Chinese wisdom, Chinese solutions and Chinese power to promote the sustainable development of global small hydropower.

Academician Zhang Jianyun proposed that the internationalization of small hydropower standards is of great significance to promote small hydropower technology innovation and solution enhancement. We should establish a sense of initiative, give full play to the role of members, strengthen solidarity and collaboration, and make Chinese contributions to the development of internationalization of small hydropower standards. The secretariat should explore the establishment of international standard establishment, joint declaration of scientific research projects, academic exchange, talent exchange and other mechanisms to strengthen capacity building and promote the realization of standardization and standardized operation.

Appointment Letters were issued to the members at the meeting, and seven members from Power China, Zhangjiang Provincial Energy Group, Changjiang Design Group, Guangdong Research Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower, Hohai University and Harbin Electric Group made exchange speeches. Representatives from the Ministry of Water Resources, Department of Rural Water Resources and Hydropower, International Cooperation and Science and Technology Division, the State Administration of Market Regulation, the Department of Standards and Innovation Management, China Hydropower Engineering Society, Zhejiang Provincial Water Resources Department, the Bureau of Market Regulation and other units attended the meeting. Principal of the Secretariat of ISO Technical Committee on Small Hydropower, and International Center on Small Hydro Power, the national technical counterpart, presided over the meeting. Approximately 40 members and representatives from social groups, production enterprises, universities, research institutes and other units participate in the meeting.
