The opening ceremony for ¡°Training Workshop on Small Hydropower (SHP) Technologies¡± was held at IN-SHP Conference Hall, Hangzhou on 9th November, 2007. Presidency of UN General Assembly High-level Committee on South-South Cooperation Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, Chief Engineer of Ministry of Water Resources Mr. Liu Ning, and Commissioner of Ministry of Commerce to Zhejiang Ms. Shi Ziming attended the ceremony on invitation. IN-SHP Looking for African Partners for the "Light-up Rural Africa" Project
The ¡°Light-up Rural Africa¡± Project, which was designed by IN-SHP to promote SHP development in African rural areas, has been officially kicked off at the 3rd Hydropower Forum. The main feature of LURA is to install about 100 PICO hydro units in remote rural areas to demonstrate how micro-hydro can contribute to tackle poverty. Equipment for the installation of the 100 units can be provided by IN-SHP. At current stage, IN-SHP is collecting site information from applicants.
