On November 6, 2008, Mr. Chen Deming, Minister of Commerce, on behalf of Chinese government and Mr. Yumkella, visiting Director-General of UNIDO, signed MOU on cooperation of Sierra Leone SHP project. This event symbolized official kick-off of the Lighting-up Rural Africa Project (LURA). LURA project explores a new modality of combination of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, which can directly solve the problem of power inaccessibility for a lot of African people and bring about far-reaching influence among African people. IC-SHP has sent experts to Africa for several times and finished site selection as well as survey in beneficiary countries of LURA project.
