On September 11, during the 18th World Water Congress, a special session on "Green Hydropower and Sustainable Development" was successfully held, which was jointly organized by International Center on Small Hydro Power (ICSHP) and Nanjing Nanrui Water Conservancy and Hydropower Science and Technology Co., Ltd. Nearly one hundred officials, experts and scholars from domestic and foreign government sectors, scientific research institutes, enterprises, and water-related organizations gathered to share advanced concepts, scientific and technological achievements, and typical experiences in the field of hydropower, and to seek for green hydropower and sustainable development through speeches, interactive exchanges, etc. Mr. Xu Jincai, Director of ICSHP, attended the session and made a special report. Mr. Xu Jincai delivered a special report titled "Green Development and Practice of Small Hydropower in China", which systematically introduced the important practice of small hydropower in China's green transformation and development, comprehensively elaborated on the important role of small hydropower in the context of climate change, and pointed out that in the future, it can play a unique role in energy storage and regulation in the pumped storage renovation, multi-energy complementation and virtual power plant, and grid assistance, etc., to promote the sustainable development of hydropower, and help the government realize the "dual carbon" goal., Mr. Shan Pengzhu, senior expert from NARI Group Co., Ltd, Mr. Rui Jun, Deputy Manager of the R&D Center of Nanjing Nanrui Water Conservancy and Hydropower Technology Co., Ltd, Mr. Wu Qingsong, Director of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Bureau of Xinchang County, Zhejiang Province, Mr. Shifrau Dimitse Gimoda, Technical Expert of the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy of Ethiopia, and Mr. Min Jiesheng, Vice President of Zhejiang Yuansuan Technology Co, Ltd, gave speeches around the theme of the conference and shared their technologies and experiences of hydropower in areas such as multi energy complementarity, intelligent power plants, digital operation and maintenance, and local practices, to jointly promote the high-quality development of hydropower.
It is reported that the World Water Congress is one of the academic conferences with the widest range of participants, the largest scope of influence and the highest level of professionalism in the field of international water resources, and it is an important international exchange platform for the sharing of knowledge on the world water agenda, water policy and water science. Nearly 1,300 representatives from more than 60 countries and regions and more than 30 international organizations participated in the Conference.
