On May 21, 2024, Mr. Gunther Beger, Managing Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (hereinafter referred to as “UNIDO”) and his delegation visited the International Center on Small Hydro Power (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) and held talks with Director General Xu Jincai, Deputy Director Yue Menghua, and  Multilateral Development Division.

Director General Xu Jincai warmly welcomed the visit of the delegation and introduced ICSHP’s collaborative projects and achievements with UNIDO in the field of small hydro power, as well as China’s successful experience in small hydro power. He said that ICSHP is looking forward to maintaining close contact with UNIDO, and working together to promote SHP international standardization, deepen South-South and triangular cooperation, consolidate existing collaborative projects, and assist developing countries in building more small hydro power projects, thus promoting the healthy development of the global small hydro power industry.

Mr. Gunther Beger expressed his appreciation for the efforts and contributions made byICSHP to the small hydro power development in the world. He pointed out that small hydro power is a crucial renewable energy source that can effectively address the lack of electricity in impoverished areas and drive economic growth. China has rich experience in the field of small hydro power, and he hoped to further strengthen the practical cooperation between UNIDO and ICSHP to achieve more fruitful results.
