On May 24, 2024, Mr. Dilip Subba, Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), and his delegation visited the International Center on Small Hydro Power (ICSHP) and had a talk with Director General Mr. Xu Jincai, Deputy Director Ms. Huang Yan, and officials of the Division of International Liaison, ICSHP.
Mr. Xu Jincai warmly welcomed Mr. Dilip Subba and his delegation, and expressed sincere gratitude to NAST for its long-term support to ICSHP and attendance at the Hydropower for Today Forum multiple times. He briefed the international partnerships and latest achievements of ICSHP in recent years. Mr. Xu Jincai said, Nepal is a good neighbor and friend of China, and a good partner in implementing BRI. ICSHP and NAST have collaborated in renewable energy areas, particularly, small hydropower projects, for years. It is expected that both parties will continue to work together on the platform building, carrying out joint research on multi-energy complementary technologies for small hydropower and other clean energies, and enhancing mutual communications and visits.
Mr. Dilip Subba stated that China and Nepal share a great foundation for communication and cooperation, and have achieved fruitful results. He anticipated to take the visit as an opportunity to strengthen the pragmatic partnership in joint research, technical standards, and capacity building.
In 2019, the relevant organizations from China and Nepal jointly established the China (Zhejiang) - Nepal Center for Joint Research on Small Hydropower Technology for collaboration in critical small hydropower technologies and achieved practical results. The next step is for both parties to deepen cooperation, as well as enhance training, communication and exchange, technical demonstration, and standard dissemination.
