Hangzhou, 23 July 2025 – Dr. Stephen Kargbo, UNIDO Representative to China visited the International Center on Small Hydropower (ICSHP). Both parties held substantive discussions to advance their decades-long collaboration in clean energy development.

Dr. Xu Jincai, DG of ICSHP expressed appreciation for UNIDO's enduring support throughout their thirty-year partnership, which has delivered significant achievements in technical exchanges, capacity building, and international standards. DR. Xu outlined plans for deeper cooperation, proposing continued engagement with UNIDO's South-South Cooperation initiatives to accelerate green technology adoption and resilient industrial development across the Global South. He further recommended expanding joint efforts in low-carbon industrial park implementation, particularly through technology transfer and demonstration projects within BRICS nations. Additionally, Dr. Xu highlighted ongoing participation in the China-Africa (Ethiopia)-UNIDO Center of Excellence as a platform to enhance trilateral clean energy initiatives.
Dr. Kargbo commended ICSHP's global leadership in advancing small hydropower and renewable energy solutions. He specifically endorsed the Center's commitment to fostering South-South cooperation, noting its critical role in delivering "affordable, reliable, and clean energy solutions" to developing economies. The UNIDO representative confirmed his office's readiness to deepen strategic alignment with ICSHP, combining resources to develop practical cooperation projects that directly benefit partner countries.
The exchange included representatives from ICSHP's Multilateral Development, South-South Cooperation, and Liaison Divisions.
