Letter from the Director GeneralApril has been a very exciting month for us here in Hangzhou. During this month we hosted the 2nd Phase of the "Train the Trainers Wokshop" of the Synergy Programme. The workshop's aims were to provide renewable energy project developers with training on ways to commercialize renewable energy projects in China. The workshop also focused on using the clean development mechanism (CDM) as a commercialization tool for renewable energy projects. As project developers are showing an increased interest and understanding for the CDM this will hopefully be a positive step towards the uptake of CDM projects in China. We would also like to announce that next month we will be hosting the IN-SHP/IEA/UNIDO Hydropower for Today Conference. This conference will be held in the first week of June and will address the issues faced by hydropower today, such as new technologies and resolving energy and environmental issues of hydropower. Post conference study tours are also available to participants. One study tour option is to the Three Gorges Dam and the other option is to mountainous area in Zhejiang Province where small hydropower is used to power cottage industries. We warmly invite you to participate in the conference and the study tours. In this month's edition of the newsletter the Small Hydropower Developer's Association of Nepal would like to announce that they have volunteer positions for a management expert and a civil engineer. We look forward to hearing your news and to hopefully see you at our upcoming conference.
Best regards, Main Contents of this Issue
