China-Zambia-Ghana Renewable Energy Technology Transfer Project

The China-Zambia-Ghana Renewable Energy Technology Transfer Project contributes to the promotion of the UN’s Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative. Financed by Denmark and implemented by UNDP, the project supports South-South Cooperation between developing countries, in particular around renewable energy development. The project aims to ensure a more holistic transfer of renewable energy technologies from China to Africa. Through the exchange of expertise and technology between China, Zambia and Ghana, China’s unique development experience will be shared. Furthermore, an enabling environment will be created in Zambia and Ghana for the absorption of new technology and in China for providing it appropriately.

A wide range of stakeholders from government, the private sector and research institutions are engaged in project activities. China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, the Zambian Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water Development and Ghana’s Energy Commission collaborate extensively in project implementation. In coordination with UNDP Country Offices in Beijing, Lusaka and Accra, ICSHP provides policy research and technical support.
